Engine Flush Oil is a specialized cleaner used to deeply clean the internal lubrication system of an engine before an oil change. It is not a lubricant itself, but rather a potent cleaning additive designed to dissolve and remove deposits such as sludge and carbon buildup accumulated during long-term operation.
📌 Core Functions & Purpose
Deep Cleaning: Powerfully dissolves stubborn engine sludge, varnish, and carbon deposits.
Performance Restoration: Cleaner oil passages allow for normal oil flow, improving lubrication, reducing noise, and potentially enhancing power and fuel efficiency.
Prepares for Oil Change: Using it before adding new oil ensures the fresh oil operates in a cleaner environment, avoiding contamination from old oil residue.
📋 Primary Applicable Situations
Consider using it typically in the following cases:
Vehicles with a history of long-term short-distance driving or frequent stop-and-start use.
Incomplete maintenance records, or suspected long-term use of low-quality oil.
Symptoms like increased engine noise, higher fuel consumption, or reduced power.
When planning to switch from mineral oil to synthetic oil.
⚠️ Important Notes & Risks
Exercise particular caution with older or high-mileage engines. Internal engine sludge may sometimes act as a temporary seal; aggressive cleaning could potentially lead to oil leaks afterward. If the engine has never received regular maintenance or has exceeded 150,000 - 200,000 kilometers, it is best to consult a professional technician before use.
🛠️ General Usage Method
Specific steps may vary slightly by brand. Always follow the product instructions. The standard universal procedure is as follows:
Warm up the engine: Start the engine and run it until the coolant reaches normal operating temperature (approximately 90°C), then turn it off.
Add the cleaner: Pour the entire bottle of engine flush into the crankcase via the oil filler cap.
Idle cleaning: Let the engine run at no-load idle for the specified time (usually 5-15 minutes. Do NOT drive or place under load).
Drain oil simultaneously: After the cleaner has fully mixed with the old oil, immediately turn off the engine. While still hot, completely drain the old oil and cleaner mixture containing the dissolved contaminants.
Replace oil filter: Always install a new oil filter at the same time to prevent clogging from the dislodged debris.
Refill with new oil: Add the full specified amount of fresh new oil.
